Research Notes on Bipolar Disorder and Creativity

Bipolar disorder has been linked to creativity. The association between the two first appeared in literature in the 1970s. In 2005, Stanford University School of Medicine found that children who either have or are at high risk for bipolar disorder scored higher on a creativity index. Children who had bipolar parents and were not bipolar themselves also scored higher.1
