Research Notes on Bile Duct Cancer
Bile duct cancer is a malignancy of the ducts that connect the liver, gallbladder and small intestine. Bile duct cancer, also known as cholangiocarcinoma, is very rare affecting 1 in 100,000 people a year in the United States.1 Jaundice, changes in stool, weight loss and abdominal pain are all signs of bile duct cancer.

- Laboratory blood tests may diagnose bile duct cancer along with symptoms and physical signs.
- Approximately 4600 people a year develop bile duct cancer in the U.S.2
- Tumor removal allows 30% to 40% of patients to survive for at least 5 years, with some achieving a complete cure.3
