Research Notes on Beta-Carotene
Beta-carotene is used for treating vitamin A deficiency. Carotenoids like beta-carotene are potent antioxidants—natural substances that prevent cell damage from excess oxygen. Beta-carotene is the molecule that gives carrots their orange color.

- The richest sources of beta-carotene are yellow, orange, and green leafy fruits and vegetables.
- Beta-carotene supplements are available in both capsule and gel forms.
