Research Notes on Best Inhalers for Asthma
Finding the right inhaler for your asthma depends on your hand-breath coordination, dexterity, if you are able to take a deep, fast breath, and your medication needs. An asthma inhaler is used to get asthma medication straight to your airways.1 There are three basic types of inhalers which are nebulizers, metered dose inhalers, and dry powder inhalers.2
Fast Facts:
- The metered dose inhaler is the most used type of inhaler, but it takes coordination.3
- Dry powder inhalers are easier to use than metered dose inhalers.3
- Some people prefer a nebulizer because they can see and feel the mist from the machine.3
