Research Notes on Best Arthritis Relief
There is no "best" arthritis relief. Doctors know that not one type of pain control or medication can always be counted on to work. Physical and occupational therapy are viable options, and in some cases - as directed by your physician - dietary supplements. Specific exercises can help with pain, especially in the hand where so many people are affected by arthritis.1 Studies have shown that exercising the painful joint can cause "noticeable improvement in terms of long-term pain relief.'2
Fast Facts:
- If you have rheumatoid arthritis (RA) see a rheumatologist. The majority of people with RA do not see a rheumatologist even though their insurance will cover it.3
- Aleve, Tylenol, ibuprofen, and aspirin are the over-the-counter standbys for all pain conditions.
- Before you use creams and gels for pain, talk to your doctor, especially if you are allergic to aspirin.4
