Research Notes on Behcet Disease Treatment
Current treatment is aimed at easing the symptoms, reducing inflammation, and controlling the immune system. Anti-TNF therapy such as infliximab has shown promise in treating the uveitis associated with the disease. - No cure for Behcet's disease exists.1
- When confined to the mouth, genitals, and skin, topical steroids and non–immunosuppressive medications such as colchicine may be effective.2
- With organ or life threatening disease, the combination of prednisone and either cyclophosphamide or chlorambucil is preferred.2
