Research Notes on Beck Depression Inventory
The Beck Depression Inventory is a questionnaire that is used to measure the severity of depression.1 Although the validity of the test has been questioned, it has been used since it was created in 1961 by Dr. Aaron Beck.2 The test, which consists of 21 questions, measures such factors as sleep habits, eating habits, and emotions.1
Fast Facts:
- The results of the test are dependent on the accuracy of the answers given by the person taking the test.2
- The test provides a measure of severity of symptoms, rather than a diagnosis.2
- The Beck Depression Inventory is used worldwide within the research community.3
- You can take an assessment on OrganizedWisdom that is based on the Beck Depression Inventory here.
