Barley is a versatile cereal grain. It is used in feed grain and malting for beer and whisky. More importantly, it has many health benefits when used in the human diet. Barley is cholesterol free, fully of fiber, low in fat, contains antioxidants, phytochemicals, many important vitamins and minerals.1
Fast Facts:
- 1/2 cup serving of barley contains 3 grams of dietary fiber, less than 1/2 gram of fat and 100 calories.1
- Available pearled, hulled and flaked.1
- Largest commercial producers are Canada, the United States, the Russian Federation, Germany, France and Spain.1
