Research Notes on Barium Enema
Barium enema is used to check for polyps, and tumors of the colon and rectum. The procedure is called a lower gastrointestinal series. The barium is a chalky like chemical that appears white on the x-rays, so the Doctor can view your iintestine walls for abnormalities. The procedure lasts around 45 minutes.
