Research Notes on Bacteria
We are surrounded by bacteria. It is in the soil, air and our bodies. There are approximately ten times as many bacterial cells as human cells in the human body. Large numbers of bacteria live on the skin and in the digestive tract. Most bacteria are rendered harmless by the immune system. Not all bacteria are bad or harmful.

- Bacteria were first observed in 1676 by Antonie van Leeuwenhoek.
