Research Notes on Babesiosis
Babesiosis is a rare tick-borne disease caused by protozoa of the genus Babesia. It is most common in U.S. coastal areas or islands off of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Symptoms of babesiosis include fever, chills, sweating, fatigue, poor appetite, and headache. It can be treated with a week’s course of antibiotic treatment under the supervision of a doctor.
