Research Notes on B.F. Skinner
B.F. Skinner, born March 20, 1094 was a famous American psychologist, known for his many contributions to the psychological field.1Among them was his concept of operant conditioning.1 He also invented the cumulative recorder and was listed as one of the most influential psychologists of the 20th century.1 He died August 8,1990.1
Fast Facts:
- Eight days before his death, he received a Citation for Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Psychology from the American Psychiatric Association.2
- He did an experiment to see the formation of superstition in the pigeon.2
- The “operant conditioning chamber” that was often used in his experiments is also referred to as a “Skinner box".2
