Research Notes on Avage Dosage

When using Avage topical cream, you should use no more than a pea-sized amount to cover the entire area to be treated.1 Avage is the brand name of the generic medication tazarotene, a retinoid product that is related to vitamin A.2 It is used in the treatment of acne vulgaris, benign facial lentigine, fine facial wrinkling, facial hyperpigmentation, facial hypopigmentation, and psoriasis.3

Fast Facts:

  • It is important to wash your hands both before and after Avage usage.2
  • Be certain that your skin is completely dry before using Avage.2
  • If you choose to use a moisturizer or emollient, you may do so before using Avage as long as you allow the skin to completely absorb it before applying medication. You may also apply moisturizers after Avage treatment, so long as you have allowed all the medication to absorb into the skin.2
  • Do not use more or less of this medication than prescribed by your physician or dermatologist. Excessive use of Avage can result in marked redness, peeling, and painful skin.2
