Research Notes on Autosomal Recessive Inheritance
Autosomal recessive inheritance is marked by the primary feature that two copies of an altered gene is found in one of the autosomes. This gene must be present for an individual to be affected with the trait or condition determined by that gene. Examples of autosomal recessive disorders are sickle cell disease, phenylketonuria (PKU), and cystic fibrosis.
