Research Notes on Autism Recovery Possible
According to a recent study, children who have been diagnosed with autism may experience recovery. Children who undergo extensive behavior therapy may recover from autism by age nine, according to some experts. While previous estimates have been that about 3-25% of autistic children will recover, experts now believe the actual range is 10-20%.1

- There have been no reports of autism relapses, though other disorders such as ADHD and phobias have been identified in recovered autistic children.2
- Researchers admit that the children who have experienced recovery were diagnosed with mild autism.3
- The most significant improvement seen in children who have recovered from autism occurred at about seven years of age.3
