Research Notes on Atypical Antipsychotics

Atypical antipsychotics are a class of medications utilized in the treatment of psychotic conditions such as schizophrenia, which have also been found helpful in the treatment of anxiety, mood and personality disorders. Some common examples of atypical antipsychotics are clozapine, risperidone and quetiapine. They have been the drugs of choice for treating psychotic disorders because they appear to have fewer side effects compared to typical or first generation antipsychotic drugs.
