Fluoxetine is not FDA approved in the treatment of attention deficit disorder, and using the medication in this manner is considered an off-label use. During limited clinical trials, fluoxetine was effective in decreasing symptoms of ADD, primarily inattention, hyperactivity, and aggression. Fluoxetine (Prozac) is classified as an selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) and prescribed to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and panic disorder.
