Research Notes on Attention Deficit Disorder Month
The month of September is Attention Deficit Disorder Awareness Month. This was timed specifically to start with school. Organization and focus are important to people who have ADD/ADHD.1 During this month in honor of ADD, you can follow a few simple steps. First, talk to your friends about ADHD and explain it to your children. Then reach out to family members and siblings. Most importantly, discuss ADHD with your children's teachers.2
Fast Facts:
- Approximately 9.5 million school aged people, both adults and children and both boys and girls have ADD or ADHD.3
- Symptoms of ADD or ADHD persist into adulthood for 60 percent of these people.3
- If you suspect your child may have ADD or ADHD have them evaluated, you can start here with our quiz based on the DSM-IV criteria. .
