Research Notes on Atrovent and Breastfeeding
It is not known if it is safe to use Atrovent (ipratropium) while breastfeeding.1 There have been no studies conducted to determine whether Atrovent passes into breast milk.1 Studies have yet to be conducted on whether it is safe to use Atrovent while breastfeeding because it is considered unethical, in most cases, to study medications in breastfeeding women.1

- Atrovent is used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.2
- If your doctor recommends Atrovent, watch your child for side effects.2
- Your doctor may recommend using a different drug while you are breastfeeding.
