Atovaquone is a medication used to treat or prevent pneumocystis pneumonia, toxoplasmosis and malaria.1 Common side effects include diarrhea, constipation, headache, insomnia and dizziness.2 Skin rash, fever, vomiting and unusual weakness should be reported right away.2
