Research Notes on Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis is the buildup of plaque in the arteries, making it more difficult for the circulatory system to do its job and raising the risk of heart attack. People with a family history of early heart attacks are more prone to atherosclerosis. Controllable risk factors include smoking, obesity, diabetes, inactivity, and high cholesterol.
