Research Notes on Asthma and Scuba Diving
Recommendations for asthmatics regarding scuba diving include that exercise- or cold-induced asthmatics should not dive, asthmatics requiring rescue medication should not dive, the asthmatic should not need more than occasional bronchodilators, and the asthmatic should have normal spirometry at rest. Mild to moderate asthmatics can be considered candidates for diving, but the asthmatic should not dive if there has been a recent asthma attack.1
