Research Notes on Arthritis Medications
There are many varieties of arthritis medications on the market today.1 Different types of drugs are specific to certain symptoms such as inflammation, which can cause joint swelling and pain. Other medications work to slow the disease progression.2

- Anti-inflammation medications are categorized into two main groups: nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroids.2
- Other arthritis medications include: analgesics (pain relievers), biological response modifiers (BRMs), and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDS).3
- Treatment will depend on the type of arthritis.4
- There over 100 medications that are available to treat arthritis.5
