Arteriohepatic Dysplasia

Research Notes on Arteriohepatic Dysplasia

Arteriohepatic dysplasia, also called Alagille syndrome, is a genetic liver disorder that manifests early in life. Many children with this condition have a distinctive facial structure, including a prominent, broad forehead, deep-set, widely spaced eyes, low-set ears, a long, straight nose and a small pointed chin. One-third to one-half of children will develop cirrhosis before the disease stabilizes in the grade-school years.
