Arnica

Research Notes on Arnica

Arnica, also known as Arnica montana has been used medicinally for a long time. If ingested in large quantities, it can be poisonous, as it contains the toxin helenalin. Coming into direct contact with the plant can also cause irritation. The oil of the Arnica is used topically for inflammation, sprains, and bruises caused by insect bites, arthritis, or sore muscles. It can also be applied to the skin for the treatment of a sore throat.
