Research Notes on Apples
Apples are high in pectin, a soluble fiber that helps reduce cholesterol -- thus helping protect against heart disease -- and helps control insulin levels, which helps protect against type 2 diabetes. Apples are also high in the antioxidant vitamin C, which may help resist some cancers, and they are associated with asthma protection. Maybe an apple a day really will keep the doctor away!
