Appendicitis is a condition that involves inflammation of the appendix. Most cases of appendicitis occurs between the age of 10 to 30. There is an increased risk of appendicitis in children with cystic fibrosis. Treatment of appendicitis is an operation called appendectomy, which is the surgical removal of the appendix.
