An aortic aneurysm is a bulge in a section of the aorta, one of the large arteries that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body. Typically with an arotic aneurysm the widening of the aorta is 1.5 times its normal size. If the aorta ruptures, it can cause serious bleeding that can quickly lead to death.

  • Most aneurysms cause few symptoms if any they may include abdominal or lower back pain.
