Research Notes on Anxiety Treatments
Treatment for anxiety typically involves antidepressants, anti-anxiety medication or psychotherapy. Research has shown that using a combination of medication and therapy may be more effective than using one of these treatments individually.1 Some cases of anxiety may require treatment in a hospital.2
Fast Facts:
- Medication does not cure anxiety.3
- Stress management techniques may be helpful.3
- About 50% of people experiencing anxiety show improvement of symptoms within three weeks of starting appropriate treatment.1
