Antiviral drugs are considered to be effective in protecting against seasonal flu.1 Although the flu vaccine is the best way to protect against seasonal flu, antiviral drugs are about 70% to 90% effective against the virus.2 Antiviral drugs also can be used to treat flu symptoms within the first two days of a person becoming sick.1
