Photosensitivity may be caused by nutrient deficiency. One example is photosensitivity in pellagra caused by niacin deficiency. The most common antioxidant associated with treating symptoms of light irritation and sensitivity is beta-carotene. Flavonoids are also believed to have protective effects on the skin.
