Research Notes on Antioxidants and Periodontal Disease

In the United States, 90% of Americans will be affected by periodontal disease in their lifetime and about 25% will lose their teeth to gum disease by the age of 60. Antioxidants have been proven to be beneficial in relieving gum pain, gum disease prevention, and healing gum disease. Studies have shown that certain antioxidants, specifically vitamin C and flavonoids, are most effective when taken together.
