Antioxidants and Lung Cancer

GuideWisdom™

This WisdomCard managed by: Nicole Kinsey

Researchers have discovered that the antioxidant beta-carotene from supplement sources is linked to an increased risk of lung cancer. Other antioxidants such as vitamin A and vitamin E, in combination with beta-carotene, were also found to be of little benefit or harm with regard to cancer risk. Experts now agree that evidence is now strong enough to advise that smokers should avoid beta-carotene supplements. Health experts recommend taking in antioxidants through food, rather than through supplements.
