Research Notes on Antidepressants and Pregnancy


Researchers have spent a great deal of time determining the risks associated with using antidepressants while pregnant. It has been determined that there is a low risk of a baby being born with birth defects or a mother experiencing problems while being pregnant and taking antidepressants.1 Such drugs as citalopram, fluoxetine, and sertraline have been cleared for consideration for use during pregnancy.1
