Research Notes on Anne Rice and Diabetes
Anne Rice was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in December of 1998 when she went into a diabetic coma. Her first symptom that anything was wrong was a bout of indigestion that began almost five years before the coma. After she came out of the coma she was told her blood sugar was around 800.1

- Anne Rice is the author of many bestselling gothic and religious-themed books.2
- She was married to poet and painter Stan Rice who died in 2005 of a brain tumor.3
- She keeps her blood sugar under control with insulin shots.4
