Research Notes on Angina Symptoms in Women
Common symptoms of angina in women include pain or discomfort in the chest, shoulders, jaw, neck, back, or arms, nausea, fatigue, sweating, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, and weakness. Pain or discomfort typically lasts for two to five minutes. Pain that lasts longer than twenty minutes, is more severe than pain felt previously, does not go away with angina medication, or is accompanied by weakness, nausea, sweating, or fainting is a medical emergency and 911 should be called immediately.1
