Research Notes on American Psychiatry Association
The American Psychiatric Association or APA is the professional organization of psychiatrists in the United States. It was formed in 1844 as the Association of Medical Superintendents of American Institutions for the Insane. The APA has guidelines for psychiatric professionals to follow for evaluations and diagnosing. The APA is currently located in Arlington, Va.
