Research Notes on American Diabetes Month
During American Diabetes Month, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) promotes awareness of diabetes and its effects.1 Occuring each November, thousands of people participate in events designed to educate the public about diabetes. Each year the ADA has a different theme to highlight different aspects of diabetes.1

- Approximately 7% of the U.S. population has diabetes.2
- Diabetes can lead to heart disease and kidney disease.2
- 54 million of the population have pre-diabetes.2
