The American Academy of Counseling Psychology was established in 1993.1 Some of the Academy’s responsibilities include the advancement of Counseling Psychology as a science and practice; dissemination of information to the public.1 The academy also gives awards for recognition of outstanding contributions in counseling psychology.1

Fast Facts:

  • It was approved by the APA in 2001.1
  • It was originally called the Academy of Counseling Psychology.1
  • The name was changed to the American Academy of Counseling Psychology in 2003.1
