Research Notes on Amantadine
Amantadine is an anti-viral medication, used to treat and prevent influenza A. It works by blocking the actions of viruses in your body. Amantadine is also used to treat Parkinson's disease by improving muscle control and reducing stiffness. Some side effects include: insomnia, dry mouth, and anxiety.

- Sold under the brand name Symmetrel
- Amantadine comes in the form of capsules, syrup, and tablets
- Amantadine should be used with caution in patients with: history of heart problems, kidney disease, liver disease and peripheral edema
- Do not use FluMist nasal influenza while you are being treated with Amantadine
