Alpha-carotene is a form of carotene. It is one of the most abundant carotenoids in the diet. Carotenoids may help fight diseases like heart disease, macular degeneration, and some cancers.

- It is the second most common form of carotene.
- Alpha-carotene may act as an antioxidant in the body.
- It can be converted in the body to an active form of Vitamin A, a nutrient important for vision, immune function, and skin and bone health.
