Alosetron (commonly referred to as Lotronex) is a medication intended for women with severe diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It's used to slow the movement of stools (bowel movements) through the intestines. Since it is known to cause serious side effects, a doctor needs to prescribe this drug. Common symptoms include: abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and constipation.
