Research Notes on Aleve Drug Interactions
Aleve (naproxen) is known to have negative drug interactions with many medications. A few medications that are known to have major interactions with Aleve include: adefovir, anisindione, and ardeparin. It is very important to consult with a physician or pharmacist regarding the use of Aleve or other NSAIDs when using any other medication.1
Fast Facts:
- Aleve is contraindicated when a patient is using the following medications: aspirin, cidofovir, pentoxifylline, and probenecid.2
- Moderate drug interactions can be expected when Aleve is combined with any of the following: abciximab, alcohol, alteplase, aprepitant, amlodipine, ciprofloxacin, dexamethasone, digoxin, diltiazem, enalapril, felodipine, gatifloxacin, hydrocortisone, heparin, isradipine, lithium, mesalamine, norfloxacin, prazosin, ranitidine, sertraline, telmisartan, trandolapril, urokinase, verapamil, voriconazole, and many others.1
- Minor drug interactions may occur when Aleve is used with antacids.1
