Alcoholism

GuideWisdom™

This WisdomCard managed by: Chris Miller

Alcohol is one of the world's most common mood-altering substances, and its use dates back to the Stone Age. Once alcohol has become an addiction, the alcohol-dependent person almost invariably must stop using alcohol in order to regain a normal life and repair physical damage. Although alcoholism can be treated, it cannot be cured. For this reason, many people who have gone years without drinking alcohol will still refer to themselves as "recovering" rather than "recovered."
