Alcohol rehab is designed to help alcoholics, those who chronically relapse, and their families get effective treatment and intervention for alcoholism. There are thousands of rehabilitation facilities throughout the country.1 Nearly 14 million Americans abuse alcohol or are alcoholic.2
Fast Facts:
- Heavy drinking can increase the risk for liver cancer, throat cancer, and esophageal cancer.2
- Many rehab centers also facilitate a 12 step program such as AA, NA, and OA.3
- Symptoms of alcoholism include a physical dependence, loss of self control, cravings for alcohol, and a tolerance to alcohol.4
