Research Notes on Albuterol Inhaler Uses
Albuterol inhalers are used to treat bronchospasms caused by asthma and other respiratory disorders. An albuterol inhaler can provide quick relief to occurring asthma attacks. Albuterol is short acting, and it may not be the most effective option for preventing future asthma attacks.1
Fast Facts:
- Albuterol is sold under the name brands ProAir HFA, Proventil HFA, and Ventolin HFA.2
- Albuterol inhalers are available by prescription only.1
- Albuterol relaxes the muscles in the airways, and allows air to flow more freely in and out of the lungs.3
- A physician may prescribe an albuterol inhaler to be used regularly as a preventative measure or to be used only in the case of an asthma attack, depending on the severity of the patient's asthma.3
