Aicardi syndrome is an extremely rare congenital disorder that is inherited as an X-linked dominant trait and is lethal in males. In aicardi syndrome, the structure linking the two cerebral hemispheres of the brain (corpus callosum) fails to develop, causing seizures, retina and choroid of the eyes and mental retardation.
