Agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC) is a birth defect in which the corpus callosum is either partially or completely absent. The corpus callosum is the band of tissue that connects the two hemispheres of the brain. Frequently, it is associated with other malformations, chromosomal abnormalities, and genetic syndromes. The effects can range from mild to severe. There is no treatment; however symptoms such as seizures can be managed if they occur.
