Research Notes on Advanced Recurrent Ovarian Cancer
Advanced recurrent ovarian cancer refers to the recurrence of cancer growths or cells following complete remission after treatment with surgery and first-line chemotherapy. Patients who develop recurrent ovarian cancer can benefit from additional treatment with second-line therapy. Second line therapy is used to improve a patient’s quality of life by reducing recurrent cancer symptoms.1 Fast Facts:
- Second-line therapy is also referred to as "salvage therapy".1
- Patients who have responded well to previous chemotherapy and had a remission lasting for more than 6 months are typically retreated with the same drug combination.2
- The average survival rate after recurrence of ovarian cancer is between 12 and 18 months.1
