Adult Smoking Cessation

Research Notes on Adult Smoking Cessation

Almost 50 million American adults smoke and most of them are trying or thinking of kicking the habit. Smoking cessation programs are designed to help those who are having a hard time quitting smoking. Studies show that people who quit smoking reduce their risk of developing coronary heart disease after one year. After 5 to 15 years, the risk of stroke in those who quit returns to the level similar to those who never smoked at all.
